Ricky Reed
Artist / Grammy Award-Winning Producer
You’ll know Grammy-winner Ricky Reed’s name from his eye-watering discography.
His break came with “Talk Dirty” for Jason Derulo – a beat he conjured up while writing his own material. That song catapulted him into work with Fifth Harmony and Pitbull. He went from that to working on most of Twenty One Pilots’ Blurryface. Then he executive produced Leon Bridges’ Good Thing while also working with Maggie Rogers on her forthcoming debut.
At the same time he was working with Phantogram, Kesha, and Halsey. Most recently, Ricky won a Grammy for “Best Contemporary Urban Album” for his work on Lizzo’s Cuz I Love You (Deluxe). He was also nominated for Producer of the Year, as well as Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Record of the Year for his production and songwriting collaborations with Lizzo.
Ricky’s own Nice Life Records began to sign acts, including rapper and body positive activist Lizzo. “This is an opportunity to amplify the voices I think need to be louder, whether they’re overtly political or political in the way Lizzo is via her visibility. All the acts here make subversive pop, which ties back to my earliest roots.” This year, Ricky earned his first #1 record with the runaway Lizzo hit “Truth Hurts.” The song remained at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for 7 weeks and also marked the first #1 for Lizzo as well as Nice Life.
